Default Lights?T5?T8? PL?

Hi , have just set up my 3 ft tank and would like to get stronger light, currently using the Flouesant lights sold with the set (18W x 2).

I woul like to increase my lights to 100W so need another 70W or so, I would like to know what is the most cost effective way to go about it (Read-Flouresant lamps). What is the difference between T5 and the normal type?

IMHO, how many tubes you use depends on the requirements of the plants you have. Glosso for example is light hungry if you want it to creep across the lawn but then, more light = more algae problem if you do not balance the parameters well.

This doesn't mean that less light would mean less algae problems, it only means that algae would have a slightly slower growth. Thus giving you more time to rectify the situation.
