Starting Koi in 6x3x2 FGT-Advice & feedback appreciated
Hi All,
I'm very excited to begin this new project of setting up a small Koi comm. I will appreciate any sharing & inputs of your experiences you may contribute. Perhaps hereafter, this thread may serve as template for others to use. What I like to achieve: 3-4pc Koi FGT with 6ft OHF/ powered by eheim 1250 Enhance the OHF with plants To create shade for the tank What I have now: 1 bare 6ftx3ftx2ft FGT. 1 eheim 1250 5kgs Biohome std Lots of Ceramic rings, Bioballs. My first question: Do i buy & place a thick foam beneath the FGT? Last edited by rontan; 30-04-2011 at 05:36 PM. |

Bro Rontan, wise of you to consider only 3 to 4 kois for your FGT capacity. Mine is definitely overcrowded so will have to remove some along the way....

hi bro, shade is important as the water temp can rise as it is only 2ft height and actual depth will be much lower. If you do not have trees near the fgt, get some palms , as these are wide open, put a plank across the fgt and shade the kois.
Also take note kois can jump out ( for several reasons ) so you may want to consider some kind of netting.... 2 c worth... |

Also get a big filter box, as big as you can afford (space and pocket wise).
