Got them off the forum n QH. Spent fair bit of time hunting.
Illumnae - yep will put u first in queue but I warn u, I usually keep my fishes a long time, at least over a year. I wasn't thinking leus at first since I already have juruparis in my tank but these wc just caught me, and I do have a soft spot for satanopercas. Ha ha keep drooling |

afaik females also have the filament extensions. Daemons are not easily sexed - you need to look at body shape or vent them.

I read somewhere that the filament extension is the distinction btw the sexes but I am more inclined to go with Illumnae though. Satanopercas are not very sexually distinguishable.
Oh by the way the leus are looking great, especially when they catch the sunlight. Can't wait to see how they develop, will be more vibrant than juruparis. |

imo, females do have the filaments too. for me, the difference seem to be in the blue shimmer over the body. very high coverage in males, my supposed females lack it badly. there still is, but its way lesser. also, their sizes are more than an inch apart, though they eat equally and are from the same batch.

I think qwertivity's right. Size has often been mentioned as the differentiating factor of satanopercas. Will go home n check out the blue shimmers tonight. |
