Picky Eater
So my Aro is a very picky eater but the one thing that it does not turn down in SW, crickets are possible 1 or maybe 2 but SW it takes about 8 per feeding.
question... I'm gut loading the SW with carrots (for some reason there are no orange sweet potato in Jakarta) and red chili pepper...anything else I should try? They don't eat pellets at all. i know about the down side of SW and if I starve her out to change foods, she'll probably eat her tank mates, so SW until she changes her mind. Thanks! |

you must have the heart of steel before trying to starve the aro in question to change its food intake.
Picky eaters tend to take the "punishment" longer time Aros can go without food for some considerable period of time. In the meantime, must maintain good water parameters My lousy goldie once went off feeding for close to 2 months. It was about 6 years old then. |

a combination of starving & greedy tankmates will help the arowana learn to pick up new food faster.

Definitely fast and greedy tank mates....she starved off for a week once but is eating pretty regular now. I just started doing a light tanning schedule but not going with what most do, I am running side tank lights 75WT Compact Flours with the regular LED 65WT from 7:30 through 9:30pm daily, will do this for a month and see what happens. I know that she will stop eating from some stress but let's test and see.
Thanks for the info guys! |

Don't worry....it will start to eat when it's hungry.
So long as your water parameter is maintain in good condition. |
