Japan breeders / LFS
Due to my job nature, I'm frequently traveling to Tokyo, Japan - usually once a month for a few days. I'm wondering if anyone knows of any good LFS in Tokyo?
Some questions I have. How does one pass customs legally with live stock? Is that even possible? Does anyone know the procedure? Can share with me please? I can also speak conversational Japanese so if anyone knows of reputable Japanese breeders and assuming it's possible to hand carry live stock, please hook me up. Thanks bros. |

Hi bro,
Just a pc of advise that it's not a good idea to bring any fishes back when Tokyo or japan is in cold season. A sudden change of temp. will see ur fishes up the lorry easily. Hope it helps. Mayb u can bring some bk for us. Hehe Last edited by cartoon; 03-04-2012 at 10:44 PM. |

Update on my research... There's a place known as JGBC (Japan Guppy Breeders club), in Japanese it's called ジャパン・グッピー・ブリーダー・クラブ, pronounced as Jah-paan goopee breeda kurabu. Yea, it's called Japlish. i.e. Japan English. いま検査している。 It's located near Asakusa, relatively near to famed electronic town (and maid cafe town ) Akihabara. That's about 30mins train ride from where my office is, so it's quite convenient for me. There are a couple of supposed reputable breeders there. I'll try to get in touch with them. 頑張ります! More updates shortly... stay tuned! |

If you should try, look out for Noboru Iwasaki. He has a guppy shop in Tokyo, I think;
http://www.tokorozawa-guppy.com/ and his friend, Gen Hideshima; http://www.guppyshop.com/ Another one is Kimura; http://www.tropical-zone.com/html/company.html However, should you decide to go to Osaka one day, please visit Kenjiro Tanaka. He's got a shop there I think. |

Thing thing abt Japanese guppies is that they don't give you the stunning impression, instead they have this refined look, deportments balanced perfectly in every department.
Their Albino blue grass, japan blues and snakeskinss are really something. |

Japanese hobbyists tend do a lot of experimentation with guppies, not so much for refining strains except for a few classical strains like German yellow tuxedo and blue/red grass. You will be amazed by the quality of these strains and how much they cost.
There's an article defining how Gen Hideshima re-established the German yellow tuxedo in Japan by doing several crosses with Singapore pineapple guppy and eventually establishing the line. This strain have two types of finnage colors; Pearl white and cream yellow, as mentioned by Noboru Iwasaki in an article. |
