hardness (GH i mean here) is a measure of the overall concentration of calcium, magnesium and other ions. the more of such stuffs in water the harder it gets. coral chips increase both KH and GH, which raises your ph level and has buffering capacity to prevent PH crash/drop.

Try putting the coral chips near a water flow area, this helps for me. My ph used to be 6-6.5 even with 10kg of coral chips. But I have learn from a bro here is to put nearer to any water flow areas. My ph now 7-7.2 usually. You can try.

Bro, your 2 bags of cc is how big? If its those 2kg bag its not enuff for such a big tank. I use 14kg for my 5x2.5x2.5. But I have a heavier bio load then you, maybe you wanna try 7kg first.
