The changes in environment is usually enough to trigger the process, normally happen at dawn and finish spawning by 10am. If you miss the first show, then try again every about 10 days or so as most females spawn in stages. If you are too busy to watch then just make a breeding mop out of those ruffian strings and drop it in. It will prevent your pair from gobble up all the eggs.
Thanx for the info bro, very informative.

Don't intend to go into breeding, so will just let the fish eat up the eggs.
Btw, will the females be stressed up being chased by the males non stop?

Hi just wondering, how long has your setup been alrdy? Has your PVC rainbar in your sump shown any signs of choking? And did you put anything in your IOUS?

Thank you!

Hi bro, sump setup been running for 3 months, no sign of the PVC rainbar choking.
Probably due to the size of the holes i drilled, not very small.
I only have a small piece of Jap Mat in the overflow compartment to reduce "draining" noise.
Maybe you can take out the rainbar and flush it clean if yours is choking.

Ya, my sump pipings originally only ended with a "L" connector at the end of the outflow.
So got myself a PVC pipe and endcap to DIY a rainbar to distribute the water.
If i remember correctly, the hole diameter is either 8mm or 10mm, total drilled 8 holes.

She will face exhaustion if lots of horny males are all chasing at the same time but once she has released her eggs then they will stop chasing and start egg munching. I've had females scales also kenna lifted like dropsy and tail broken but they recover quickly without me intervening. So not to worry, it's nature. Anyway it can help prevent egg binding too otherwise the female will tend to keep their eggs and rid of them thru' re-absorption.
