Rio Negro Tributary Stream biotope tank
Recently hand itchy and got myself a group of juvenile Ivanacara adoketa, so I decided to set up a new biotope tank for them. The Rio Negro (where Ivanacara adoketa comes from) is known for its fine white sand and dark blackwater with extreme conditions, so I have tried to replicate the conditions as much as I can.
Not very much is known about Ivanacara adoketa, and there wasn't much information online about its habitat in the wild as well as sympatric species found with it, so I had to guess quite abit based on other reports that I've found (e.g. a few reports mentioned that Tucanoichthys tucano is found together with I. adoketa, so I based tankmate choice and decor on information I found about the tetra instead). Without much further ado, here are some shots of the setup and inhabitants of this new tank. FTS: Ivanacara adoketa: Dicrossus filamentosus: Tucanoichythis tucano: Other inhabitants of this tank include Carnegiella strigata and Ancistrus sp. (came ided as Ancistrus dolichopterus L183, but I think it is Ancistrus cf. cirrhosus). |
