The only thing is where to put those aros that you have taken out from the main comm later.

Well said. I do agree with down sizing instead of upsizing as the newcomer will get bullied or boycott.

Agree with jiahuang as usually sump is smaller by a lot cause tank maker usually made it with thinner glass for the sump.

Choices as below
1) up size sump - down part -> additional money involved n need repling too
2) use media's which is smaller n capable to cover bigger gal of water area - down part -> branded media's cost more expensive than normal egs bio home plus, marine pure or eheim sub etc
3) have more livestock - down part -> livestock don't know where to keep when taken out.
4) perform more often water change -> human energy waste
5) control feeding - down part -> fishes won't be fat enough

There is no win win but worth trying ")

Hi Bro.

Thanks for your input there. I do not want to risk the calmness I have today by adding in a few more, but like you mentioned, if I were to add more now & then downsize, where will they be housed after..

Cheers mate..!!

10' x 3' x 3' main tank is 19mm glass.
Can anyone advise what should be the thickness of glass for a 9' x 2' x 2' sump?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers mate..!!

usually having such a huge tank . it should be divided into 2 sump instead of 1

if u like only 1 sump for your tank , i will recommend 10 mm to 12 mm to be safe consider the large amount of water in your sump

Thank you for your reply Bro.

Can you elaborate on the 2 sump? Never heard that before..

Well noted on the 10mm - 12mm thickness of the latter.

Cheers mate..!!

good to have thickness like 12mm as sump side normally dun haf bracing so having thicker glass can resist on the impact of the water flowing from main tank to the sump when your pump fail. if the sump is fill up too much of water the strength on the four corners of the sump will give way. then u need to re silicon n add glass to the side to withstand the impact again if ur pump fail you again.

Will take note of that & discuss with my tank maker soon.
I do not want to risk flooding my living room due to sump failure..
Thanks Bro.
