Thanks for your advise. Is tank bred same quality as wild ones? Kept wild ones before but one jump out, hard pain

That is the picture of a male.
The answer the your qns whether wild or captive bred. I'd go for captive bred. Reason being captive bred easier to spawn less prone to fungal infection. You don't have to worry about how the fish was acclimatise before it was brought to the shop. A chiller is still required though. |

Not necessarily coloration does not dictate if it's wild caught or captive bred. I've seen captive bred with super coloration and wild caught that looked like his. It's like red aro captive bred in a batch some are really good but some not so. Alternatively sometimes food plays a role so really depends.

Wild Macrostoma
Here is pic of wild caught pair, they went thru a long quarantine process. Male was very skinny and female was very aggressive when they first came and had to be treated with medication for int. parasites. Lost the female in the process, but male made it ok with superb coloration, which by the way changes rapidly from time to time esp with suitable Water parameters and surroundings.
The change of coloration of Macrostoma is so sudden...a joyous sight to appreciate its beauty! Ooop can't paste / attach pic...share later . |
