As long as the DI water is replaced with trace elements and boost the pH level to the desired level, it should be okay to use for freshwater.

for FW i'm not sure though... i remember reading an article saying DI water measures PH at 7... so i assume for SW tank u probably need to boost up yr PH a little to blend into SW aquarium

I believe that newly salt mixed water will initially have a high PH of 9 and above and will adjust itself to bet 8.0 - 8.3 after allowing to mix for at least a few significant hrs . Anyway , that is suppose to be the procedure before any water change.

that's wat i mean....after Di, add Dennerle S7, which contain very good vitamin n minerals for FW.

my understand on DI water means it has been removed all minerals including heavy metals, algae-promoting nutrients such as phosphate and silicate, pesticides and organic pollutants, chlorine and chloramine and others.. and i belief these supstances do mark up certain percentage in terms of PH.
