Default Pump for Sponge filter

Sorry for the noob question. But may i know how to tell if the pump is enough for the sponge filter? Im looking to have a sponge filter for my 422 tank to act as an air stone/extra filtration, which air pump u all recommend. I have an extra Hailea 4000wb though.
