Guppy Food - Golden Pearls from USA
Been reading and researching for a while on finding the best alternative dry food for BBS.
Some oversea fish/guppy forums have been raving about Golden Pearls (GP) and found out that there's a few "versions" of GPs in the market such as BrineShrimpDirect as well as Ken's Fish. Decided to buy from Ken's Fish due to the primary ingredient (brine shrimp rather than fish meal). Finally, my "present" came.... Pic 1: It has been a while since the last time unboxing a mail parcel (missed the good ol' betta days ). Pic 2: Let's see what I have bought Pic 3: Inventory check - GP 200-300, GP 300-500, High Protein Fry Green Pic 4: Close-Up (Singapore Version ). It was very tough to guess the size of these GPs before purchase as not many pictures could be found over the web. So for the benefit of all bros/sis, below is the close-up shot. Pic 5: More comparative shot, basically GP 200-300 is much bigger than Hikari First Bites and decap BSE. Should be good for fry. I was expecting GP 300-500 to be much bigger or the same size of 0.5mm pellets but actually more of 300 microns. Should be good for juveniles and adults. |

Don't think can beat live food. It's oily and you will need to change your water more often.

About $40, local mail. Got a friend to bring them back from USA. It would be very expensive for international shipping.
Where did you buy from? I know many years ago, a local company called Aquaz, imported some for local market. Quote:
You can try to play around their shopping cart to gauge the cost. Still experimenting. Hope some positive results. But don't think can be a total replacement of live bbs. Quote:
As mentioned, many brands of GP out there. I read Ed Yeo's previous comment on Aquaz GP (a local company) which could cloud the water red. Then BSD and KenFish have different ingredient. |

Quick Update
One of my AFR dropped a small batch. Fed the one day old fry with GP 200-300 without any problem. Will be feeding this batch exclusively on GP. Probably many ppl wil ask about the buoyancy of GP. IMHO, not sure these GP could "swim" as mostly they float on the water surface. Generally, the guppies accept the GPs without any problem. Will monitor on water clouding or oil. |
