Why need to on the light 24/7 in the first place? I think not necessary as some pleco may feel shy or skittish when light on. Unless you has been kept the pleco for some time and they get use to it with the light. On light only when viewing. Some pleco very active when light off.

I only turn on the lights during water change. At all other times, the light is off.

Nice L56Y and L333. As for the lights on or off, they can be trained to accept.
Initially I lights off to try to make them more comfortable and more readily to feed. But I only using low wattage led light just bright enuff so that I can see them without having to shine my torch on them. But after few weeks, my l46 eventually get used to me switching on the lights. |
