guys or some shifus here, post a picture of their laying of the sump tank meant to keep AROWANA. coz im not sure how much coral chip to put to maintain pH.
im only keeping one 10" xb with 2-5pc tinfoil barb and a royal.

my tank is a 5 x2.5 x2.5, sump is 4 x 1.5 x 1.5

1st compartment , i put wool on top, below is bacteria house( dog -poo shape)
2nd compartment , all ceramic rings and glass ring.
3rd compartment i put ceramic rings too. ( some tell me put oyster shell , some say coral chip, some say dun need to put) how much CC to put??? 1 kg enough??? im quite confused...

My aim is to maintain gd water parameter to upkeep my aro, im will be doing 20%water change every week

initial period pH may be high.

best to monitor the pH regularly first & add CC or OS when pH starts to drop.

for six footer i usually use about one kg of OS/CC.

what to use is difficult to say.
i use both. i prefer OS to CC as i can see OS slowly being eroded by use & replenish/change when needed. CC is more unappealing to me as my tank CC tends to get coated by biofilm/sludge needing rinsing/boiling regularly.

I had 2kg of Oyster Shell in my Sump for my 5X2.5X2 with 4X1.5X1.5 sump.
Not harm on overloading Oyster Shell.
Remember to clean each piece your oyster shell before adding into sump.
I cleared off quite a bit of mud from the shells before adding.

what is your tank pH currently?
no use putting if still on high side. just monitor until it's coming down.

pH 7.3 finally after so much advice from the shi fu here...

i heard ozonizer got alots of benefits.. any shifu advice here

IMO, put bac h in bio ring compartment. Wool n cootton Only for mat etc only. Keep 1st compartment as solid waste filter. Usually will add 1 net with fine mesh upon water entrance into filter. Everyday knock 1 time. Dead fish n prawn all cleared easily
