Certainly a non tankbuster cat for most people - Duck-beak Catfish
Sorubim lima
Always very fascinated by the way they “hang” in the “air” but never get a chance to pick up… well, finally got a pair of them today Pretty under rated and not so “famous” species from the family of Pimelodidae - known as "shovel noses". It is pretty suited to be kept in most home aquarium unlike some other shovelnoses include the Tiger Shovelnoses, false zebra cat (Brachyplatystoma juruense) or red tailed cat that may get too large for standard home aquarium. The common name can be pretty funny : Duck-beak Catfish, Hockey Stick Catfish, Lima Shovelnose. One interesting thig abt this cat is the Lima shovel nose hides in a head down position next to the roots of large trees. It waits in this manner for unsuspecting prey to wonder by. Certainly a non tankbuster cat for most people. |

Have never own TSN before so can't really compare. Since this cat max at 1.5ft, the grow rate should be fairly slow as compared to TSN, my best guess…it shld hit abt 1ft in a short time thereafter maintain at that length for a long time.. For this cat, it is very gentle and keeping a group will not have any aggression problem. Currently keeping them with a Sturgeon cat and a pair of dwarf giraffe cats. Quote:
