Brother, you are referring to relative amount of NH or in another word, concentration of NH.

Ammonia peak, I assume you are referring to NH concentration level. That is in a relative dimension, mg/l or ppm.

The rate of nitrification generation very much depend on the absolute amount of NH instead of relative amount.

Everytime someone brings up cycling a tank, I just smile right away because the "urine" part comes in my mind. Its weird and awkward but its a good source for cycling a new tank. I've tried it and nothing bad happened. But if you are going to try this method, you can't be on any type of medication, and be sure not to put YELLOW urine in the tank. <-- Yellow = Bad
When I did it, I drank a lot of water and my urine came out quite clear, so I use that to put in my tank. Beware that if you put too much, the water will stink!

Best would be for you to provide us some basic information;

Like ~

Tank size aka Dimension.
Filtration type ~ Over head filtration or Sump (how big)

Type of fish that is to be reared...
