share with u my experience:

1. breeding size may not mean the fish are ready for breeding; dependent on the age. males are about 1.5 and females are about 1 year old to be ready for mating. it may take even longer.
2. signs of mating/pairing - vigorous shaking; male and female will swim towards each other then bow.
3. the fish will choose a sweet spot to lay the eggs on, could be filters, breeding cones or tank walls or anything. typically the male will choose, however it is not limited by sexes. there is regular pecking on the surface.
4. a pair show signs of aggressiveness towards other fish coming near their sweet spot.
5. when all conditions are right, they will lay eggs. this process may take a while. frequent water changes or a large water change prior or after a rainfall helps stimulate the egg laying process. higher temperature helps too.
6. even if eggs are laid, it may take a while for the pair to be successful in fertilizing the eggs, due to immaturity or inexperience. may take a long while for it to succeed.
7. you may want to let the pairs form naturally first for your first few attempts before attempting to go to force-breeding of selective fishes.
8. patience is the key to successful breeding.

hope that helps. all the best to discus breeding!

Regarding point no.5 what do you mean by higher temperature helps too?

yes, you will have to have some experience first before doing that, during breeding, forced pairs will be very prone to error.

Means you decide who their partner is. Take a male and a female and put them together.

a better word for forced breeding is selective breeding.

I don't think you have to worried about that for a long time to come...
