People tend to forget any party needs to obtain at least 45 seats to be able to form the government. And WP only went for 28 seats, even SDP only 11 seats, you think Singaporeans will vote in candidates from Singfirst in Jurong, NSP team in Sembawang/Tampines, or even the worst PPP in Choa Chu Kang.

I always tell my family and friends, WP is not stupid. LTK has been in parliament for a long time and he knows PAP very well. Any small mistake will be magnified into a massive nation threatening unforgivable mistake. So he will ensure the WP will put in 200% efforts into their works.

Until now i still unable to accept Charles Chong can get away with that comment of "$1million" surplus of Punggol East town council with no evidence and some voters of Punggol East bought it.

..
There is no evidence to suggest that AF is well represented as the national distribution ie. 70% of AF voted for PAP.

How many members are there in AF?
Say 50k? how many % of voter is that?

Even for rallies, 30k pax? how many percent?

I am more inclined to think that most of the 70% are the internet-silent majority.
Clearly they have already decided, they dont even need to go listen to PAP rallies to decided.
Apparently PAP read it well, their rally speeches were rubbish.
PAP probly read that rallies are not so impt.

The votes showed that these issues are not critical in their decision
i) CPF
ii) Foreigner import
iii) Housing price
iv) Cost of living
v) Diversity in parliament
vi) Your voice in parliament
vii) Check and balances

WP retained Aljunied and bettered the national average
This suggest that
i) Town council issue is non issue

There was a swing of close to 10%.
We need to examine what changes there were from 2011 to 2015.

i) SM & MM removed title
2) Some ministers got fired
3) Housing prices went down
4) PAP MPs worked doubly hard on the ground
5) more responsive Govt.

It would seem (to me) that most Sporeans dont give a damn about opposition and their war cries.
Opposition to singaporean are just used to slap PAP wrist then PAP misbehaves.
Now the PAP has rectified their mistakes, all is well.
Sporeans want to return to the era of rapid growth without all the slowdown that can be caused by check and balances.

2 cents...

I voted PAP because.................

SDA was my side's opposition and they did NOTHING for past years. And no substance.
And I really dun think it's wise to encourage such people from joining politics.
These are really no sign no sight at all from the first day I moved in (GE11 I had to go bck my laobu plc to vote) till GE15.
Their "Manifesto"? Dreamers still dreaming....

Recent new policies implemented are avenues to try. No Guarantee if will work but they LOOK like they're trying. Points for trying to go bck right direction.

I saw the stats, Punggol-Pasir Ris highest number of spoilt votes of 3%. I'm guessing majority are from my neighbours who can't vote for either.

Not onli that,
- More medicare and healthcare towards the elders especially the pioneer generation.
- Recent raise in pay for teachers.
- Housing grants adjusted.
All little things add up to a large numbers.

He's a mathematician

Seriously I thought long and hard before I even posted.
Past experience when people talk about politics, any support to PAP will be faced with negative emotions.

And den... SERIOUSLY la.. lookin at my area's opposition.. NB.... reason quite clear lor.

Btw.... for those who think huge turnout for rally = will have supporter.

The mass majority who are NOT at any rally have more or less already made up their minds.

Some like myself have been watchin their rally videos (seriously, in comfort of air con + clearer) till coolin day.

I believe the AF population voting patterns is somewhat like the sample count. I can't prove it though, much as you can't prove it is not.

The outspoken members at this politics section are just a minority of the AF population, not more than 100 voices. Certainly not representative of the AF population. The majority is silent.

You make very good points on your other reasons though. Thanks.

whoever the team that designed pioneer generation package should all be given double promotion. i think that has significant impact on GE outcome but seriously it has helped many families.

there are still a big group of pre-65 elderly. the pgp not only helped them but also their family members, children taking care of them. the pgp defray 50% of medial bill is a bg thing.
