“I broached this subject with you early this year. You and several senior members of the Cabinet tried hard to persuade me to change my mind. You reminded me that the responsibility of Government was a collective one, and no minister carried difficult problems like public transport alone.
“I deeply appreciate the reassurance and support. But having thought the matter over carefully, I have decided that I should stand by my original decision. I thank you for the unstinting support you have personally given to the Ministry of Transport and me.” these quotes from CNA seems like he did give up because of the difficulty of the job. |

When LTY took up the ministry, my opinions then was, this is a dirty job. Mess created and he has to kio sai.
Regardless of frustrations towards the MRT system, he did put in a lot of efforts, but since he is wearing white, whatever he does is perceived by some as bad. |

I think he did his best but the whacking he got not due to him was something he could not accept. Collective responsibility yes but his was the face everyone wanted to hit.
Now no one can say Tuck You. |

not sure what they can do even if elected. I think the middle ground will hold firm, those in civil service will hold firm so there wont be much movement we can tide over |

Always behind the game. Always trying to find out the "root" cause of the breakdown. The root cause is he (LTA). Didnt spec the tender well enough. Didnt know how to spec the preventive maintenance. Sleepers rot also dont know. Now insulation rot also dont know. Clearly LTA didnt know well enough to spec the tender for the operator. |
