I used to buy those bacteria startup bottle to cycle the tank for 2 weeks before adding fishes. More safe and hygiene than using fishes for the cycle process.
Adding hot water to sterlised the tank is a no no, this will cause the silicon to shrink and reduce the adhesive strength on the glass. Use bleach instead and anti bleach for flushing. |

Hi bros, just wanna ask. Yesterday i throw in one mp inside the tank and it's cloudy. Around one bite size. But i tested for ammonia today and it's 0. Is it because the mp havent really decompose yet so no ammonia is produce?

why are you rushing, why add Mp , why commerical BBs.
Since you have disinfested and clean up the tank, just add in tap water and with your Baxter 3 in 1 . Put back the clean filter and Bio ring. No CC for the time being. With the air pump and filter pump running for aleast 1 day. And once your fish is quarantine and Okay. just put it back into the tank and feed v. little to kick start the new tank cycle. if the water is v. cloudy just change 20 % . The rule is slowly, feed v . little or on alternate day , do partial water change not more than 20% , observe your fish daily for ... And dun rush and add in new fish. Till the tank is fully cycled. Relax. |
