Bad deemed as any bacteria harmful to my fish.
Good = zero nitrate I went ahead and bought this nitrate reactor, i am going to fill it with deniballs and Bio balls (bought separately) http://www.guppysaquariumproducts.co.../prod_479.html Is there anything i got to watch out for other than the drip rate.. |

1. incomplete denitrification ...you might get nitrite or even ammonia instead. 2. Hydrogen sulphite. Very highly toxic and smells like rotten eggs. The right amount of drip rate will solve the above 2 problems. Secondly, try keep the denitrator in the dark corner or better still, wrap in oyama paper. Aerate the output of denitrate strongly and if possible, drip onto a basket of GAC. |

Excuse my ignorance but what is GAC?
I think the out put of the denitrate will be fine, it will be placed in the last chamber where the sump pump is and will be blasted back into the tank, I also have a FX5 with a high flow rate to create disturbances in the water. |

Better to have the output mechanically filtered before releasing to the tank. GAC is activated carbon. It will remove hydrogen sulphite.

Thanks Atom, I will definitely put some carbon in a sock and leave it in the sump.
Bro Octane do you still use your denitrator? if so where do you put the inlet and outlet now? if you used to put it where the wool was... (Deniballs arrived YAY! now goto wait for the unit which should be here next week) |
