Starting planted tank !

Hi AF bros, I'm starting a 2 ft planted tank. I have a spare 2 ft tank that is not in use, so I thought I give the plants a try for a change. Can any bros put there advice me on how to start? Like what is the best soil to use, how much lighting I need, do I need a fan, do need good filtration. Or any other important things to look out for. Will appreciate alot!

Can check out some of the planted tank journals as well. Lots of useful info, but scattered all over the place.

If you are subscribed to AQ, they have some helpful tips posted on that forum as well (no, they are not paying to do this). I recently started on my planted tank, 2ft as well so all the best to you!

If you got some spare cash, try using ADA soil otherwise any others might be good enough. Are you planning to go high or low tech for your tank? requirements might defer, as well as the plants that you can put in.

Im planning for low tech but might still use some co2 and lightings from time to time cause hand itchy :X

maybe you can tell us what you plan to set-up or what you wish to set-up and then its easier to recommend the plants , equips etc.
