Yeah. I always try to maintain at around 7 to have some buffer.

Ic. You should not have ammonia spike problem in the bag as your water is low Ph. Common Pleco quite hardy also gg? Your ph is very low? Can try to maintain at high ph 6 to around 7.

I never bothered about pH when I keep zebras. I find adults hardy, only newly borned ones are very sensitive.

neither did I believe till I experienced this happening.
now I bght some L333 and try with some sand buffer on tank bottom. see if can survive. Have some L144 for a while in this tank so think ph ok as last I took was 7 with the sand.
