just wondering how often do you need to change the solution in the co2 indicator?

the drop checker is slower to react
i believe if not wrong its take 1/2 hr or so to reflect the reading so
dun be fooled by it.

the co2 needed is also related to your tank temp.
lower temp tanks like 25 or below = lower co2 dosage

take out your drop checker from the tank, leave it outside tank for an hour. It should change to blue. If not change the solution

I am using the same drop checker from Dymax.

Ended up buying 2 because one of them came with a cracked drop checker solution which had dried up completely.

From the literature that's available on the net (BarrReport.com), it seems it's better to have a KH solution with a fixed dKH instead of tank water for a somewhat accurate reading.

For ~30ppm of dissolved CO2, the solution should be approximately at 4 dKH - I've mixed up a 500ml solution of 4 dKH based on the instructions given and cross-verified it with a KH testing kit.

The response is slow indeed but it's sufficient to give an indication of any excess/deficit in CO2 supplementation.
