Default What are the chemicals used to detoxify chlorine and chloramine in tap water?

These are the chemicals found in water conditioners that I came across so far.

This is the most common chemical used. Convert chlorine and breakdown down chloramine but left with ammonia.

[Na2O3S2] Sodium thiosulfate

These are chemicals similar to above that contain [S] sulphur and are able to deal with both chlorine and chloramine.

[CH3NaO3S] Sodium hydroxymethylsulfinate

[CH3NaO4S] - complete detoxify chlorine and chloramine.
Sodium Hydroxymethanesulfonate
Sodium formaldehydebisulfite

[Na2O4S2] Sodium hydrosulfite

This is one without [S] sulphur.

[KH2PO4] Monopotassium phosphate

Depend on multiple factors. Such as type of fauna, size and etc.

Example, water conditioner in powder form that contain Sodium hydrosulfite. Based on a typical concentration. it is safe not to dose 5 times above recommended dosage.

So your big quantity is referencing point of Over Dosing? If so, as long as there is no OD, there is no concern.

Overdose that is serious enough to shock or even kill the fishes is probably at least 10x n above the recommended dose.
