Dipping my toes into planted nano tanks again....
It's been ages since I last dabbled in planted tanks. I think the last planted tank I did was over 3 years ago. I've gone on to mixed biotope, true biotope, wandered off to marine and now I've come back a full circle - even my large home biotope tank tries to incorporate some of the "wet season" in, and includes plants.
An opportunity to go deeper arose when I decommed my office nano marine. Decided that lugging salt water to office every week wasn't what I wanted in a tank that was ultimately supposed to be relaxing. Hence, I decided to embark on a new nano journey back to freshwater. My friends would have endured my wishy washy decision making process between a high tech planted tank or yet another biotope style tank. Flirted with the idea of yet another apisto tank, an asian peat swamp for Betta rubra, or West African type wild kribs (GC's stock list had a very temptong pair). However, I ultimately settled on a planted tank. Just lugged all the stuff I bought to office today and am hoping to be able to do a journal style update if time permits. Lily pipes not in the picture yet as I'm still awaiting freshnmarine to deliver them. |

You went with borneowild additives? Why not ADA? Just curious. Are you keeping shrimps in it?

I have an aversion to ADA Bad experience with zombie followers on another forum, which made me dislike the brand itself as well, so I try not to use it unless absolutely necessary (e.g. I'm using ADA Power Sand as I forgot to order the pumice stones from Freshnmarine and can't find volcanic rock in such small pieces).
For Borneowild, I think a local entrepreneur has a stake it in, so I decided to support local haha Just received bad news from Freshnmarine...my lily pipes are out of stock till the end of July! Should I start DSM for 6 weeks and try again to order end of July or should I try out another brand? I don't really want to use CAL Aqua or ANS as I've tried both brands before and was not satisfied with their quality. Only other alternative seems to be to pay double for DO! Aqua. |
