I think it won't help unless you've got an earth wire for the powerhead.

Think a grounding probe or a proper insulating groundsheet(paiseh dunno call what think is ESD foam or something) would help, place the groundsheet on the floor and stand on the groundsheet. If you've got the carpet, make sure the groundsheet is ontop of the carpet and NOT below otherwise it'll be useless would help.

REALLY dumb question, but won't dipping the test pen in the water cause rust and possible contamination
