Bro Matubula, my novice attempt and wild guess :
1) thunder (seen a similar one at lfs, labelled as thunder but frankly the patterns and snout does not represent much of thunder as it is very dark, maybe due to environment) 2) Peru green 3) Xingu plat 4) &5) thunder (tele pires) seen some pics on such stunning piece in some website and stated as L27 tele pires. Personally have not seen it before but very impressed by the strong and distinct coloration and high finage. Well could be all wrong, just trying and learning in ID. Haha. One question on Thunder. Understand that both L27 tapajos or L27 tele pires refers to thunder. Is that right? Looking forward to you revealing the answers. |

I wasn't expecting such varied ideas The first picture is the one I don't know. The others, 2 and 3 are Panaque nigrolineatus (L190), 4 and 5 are the same fish, a P. cf. armbrusteri 'Xingu' (L027 xingu).
For the Xingu, I think the stubby, short bodied, appearance in the photo is due to angle of the camera and fish, also it's lines go upwards, compounding the effect. Otherwise I think it's a normal looking fish. For the unknown one, I've had it for about 2.5 years and I was told the shop had it for 4 years prior to that. It's a stunted/damaged fish. It looks the same now as it was in the shop, dark brown with very little pattern showing. During the stress of travel it showed a light brown/beige colour. The closest match I've found was this fish listed as a 'Thunder' on this Japanese site |

Flat head, big mouth (relative to other L27). Plus, some thunders have been known to go completely black if kept in a dark environment for some time. Their colour will come back after awhile if kept in a bright place. But 2.5yrs seem a little too long. Nevertheless, that's unique and I stand by my first ID, its a thunder!
