My condolences.. However, this piece seems to be small for a year plus! Small appetite? How are the water parameters like?

Sure, even how tired from school or work, it is a commitment to do WC, if you like the fish, you would sAcrifice time to look after the fish, if not rather release the fish or let other people take over the care for the fish, to prevent suffering of the poor fish.. And also uneaten food to remove from the tank to prevent stink(fouling) of the water.

Changing and maintaning the water regularly, providing enough space for our fish to swim, enough feeding, etc...are all part and parcel of keeping fish, is our responsibility as a owner.

I agreed with you, If cannot do that, as you said, rather pass on to others who can do it better. Thanks
