Respect
Now that is the longest I've come across an Asian Arowana to live. We had a thread before (around 10 years ago) on who had the oldest living arowana still in their care. Even back then your aro would have been one of the oldest. It's an honour to have read your posting and my deepest condolences to it's untimely demise. Electric shock you say? That's horrible.
Somebody told me that Scleropages can live even up to 100 years in a tank environment. However, it is unlikely simply because of human negligence. You take a long trip or something irregular with the food or water and it is over. I'm very glad that you took on the tedious dedication your father started. I have said in the past that an arowana entails a huge responsibility. Its life and comfort is entirely in your hands. I've proven this when I lost my entire stock due to life obstacles. At which point, I wondered and realized that the longer your aro lives, it is a testimony of how good and how stable one's life is. Having said that, RESPECT to you and your dad. I hope this does not dampen your spirits and you find it in you to break that record. Of course I won't be around to find out if you do, but the next generations will sure find it fascinating. Another thing I always say, it takes the same effort to care for a silver as a super red or a crossback. Since you clearly are capable of caring for the fish, go for an eye candy next. Sorry again for your loss and cheers to a happy new year and next decade and beyond.. |
