use water hose. Connect 1 end to the tap and on the tap, den let the water fill up the hole hose then put the other end into your tank and lastly pull off the other end from the tap and place in where u wan to drain the water to.

But do note that suction is better when the tank is taller then the drainage point.

Cheers

mine 5 ft

but mine may not be so nice currently, but easy job.

as mine HDB and my tank is next to my main door.
mine is canister set up

last time -
i hook up to my canister waterdump valve with hose then off pump. throw water to corridor sink.

now:
i added a addition U pipe with strainer (those blue color w a valve)
then hook up with hose and a open close valve at end.
when i need to dump water, lay hose to corridor sink then open 2 valves.
water flow as siphon start. to stop, close 2 valves and keep hose behind.
i hang the hose end w valve higher than water lever.
-- anyway 2 valves unlikely to fail together and leak.

to add water , i got a tap and hose lay in hse already,
so i just open tap, fill into tank direct .
nv have issue.

---- i dump abt 30% water, then add anti chlorine , then open tap full blast.
15 mins less i done with 30% WC.
and not tiring ahhahahah.

inside :
1x 14" gold aro
1x 11" Al silver
1x 11" Tig
1x 8" IT
1x 12" Florida jar

TS...ofc you can use pails to do WC by all means do that, but how long can u keep it up? Using a long hose saves a lot more time not to mention you don't get your floor wet and slippery....which is dangerous for you or house members. Also best part is....you can use the time when draining/topping up water to watch TV/pc/etc as usually it takes quite awhile.

P/S: I use pails to do WC 30+ years ago when I only have a 3ft tank, but since 20+ years ago when I have more volumes of tank/s, using a long hose is a must.
