filter advise
hi bros after year of stopping fish keeping am coming back again. now Im planning to keep TVR and Im planning to use a blue water drum as a filter box but now am thinking should i have the water inlet to the drum at the bottom or top?
1) water inlet from bottom and over flow from top : then most waste will be at the bottom section of the drum which i will have an valve outlet below which i just release the valve once a week to flush out the waste from the filter. 2) water inlet from the top = trickling water system which cultivate and a good place for bacterial. BTW im also having a water dripping system coming from those 3 stages carbon filter 24hr Again would like to hear from all and learn thanks |

i have both set up. IMHO setup 1, your waste cannot be too much, as too much shit will clog up the filter. Whereas from setup 2 they can take shit better. as you can change the wool more regularly.
