In an ideal world, rdg will have close to zero peppering and strong yellow base on the face, forehead and even under the red color.
Melon got very strong pigeon genes, a more white face.
Nowadays too much crossing, not easy to tell.

Forgot to add. Rdg fishes are smaller as compared to pigeon base melons when fully grown.
