Default Filter media for 4ft OHF

Hi experts,

I would like to seek some advise regarding setting up of a 4feet OHF with 3 layers. I understand usually people uses at least 2 types of filter media. I have purchased some momotoro bacteria house. I would like to ask what other filter media is recommended? Its a 4 x 2 x 2 tank. I will be keeping about 6 discus, 4 angelfish and about 5 smaller size birchirs. Thanks in advance!

If budget allows, can go for biohome plus.
If not mr aqua CR is good.

My understanding is that biohome is more suited for enclosed environment ie canisters?

OHF would be mainly wet-dry with water trickling down the trays.

I am using mainly mr aqua CR, plus jap mat/black wool in my ohf....just overhauled mine today and switched to a new tom800

How good is the ANS rings? Relative to mr aqua? Bought 2 packs lately to try out but can't say I can tell the difference.

Oh ya the momotaro is highly recommended for where they get the water splashing on them, so I heard.
