Hi Plantergal,

I only started about a month.
As i don't have space for a pond, i brought very small koi, about 5" in my tank.
I really enjoy watching them during feeding.
I find these koi quality have improved, maybe as you say is local breed japanese koi. I will PM you where i brought my koi.
Enjoy....

Hi....

For koi, they are few farms around....go a search.....many are discussed in AF thread.

You should visit them and see which farm you are more comfortable with.
There are hobbyist selling their collections too!

Keep koi is not just about buying and keeping alone.
It's a community of friends!

There is Singapore Koi Club...you can pm wilgan for membership details...

Price wise, I would say all farms has low price and high price koi.
Koi keeping is a hobby and appreciation of the beauty of koi, not a competition on koi value.

There is a coming koi show at Max Koi Farm, NHA Show on 4-5 July....there are thread on past year show here....

You can get to meet many hobbyist there...

on the net cover....you can check out with respective Koi farm.
If you are into DIY, you can use those fishing net.

Hi nutx,

I agree with you that keeping koi is not just about buying and keeping alone but a community of people with same hobbies whom we can all share fun as well as info with. Sounds like you've had this hobby for a pretty long time.

So far I've visited 2 koi farms, will be visiting another one on my day off tomorrow. Unfortunately my water's still not in the right condition, with algae even after thorough cleaning 3 weeks ago, UV light that's not working, I even saw a water spider on water earlier!!! Hence don't think I can buy any koi that's expensive yet. But would like to know more about the Singapore koi club that you mentioned. Thanks for the info on the Max Koi Farm NHA show too, hope can make it.

Hi...

Regarding your water condition, you may want to photo some photo of your setup, filter design, media and also tell us the water volumne and pump size. Everyone here can give some suggestion.
