This is a sample pic of an overall wet/dry filter setup

In this first pic you see 3 overflows.

The overflow sits on the rim of your tank like as pictured. The part that hangs in the tank has teeth. Water is drawn into the teeth and pass through the tubes to the back of the overflow. The sponges you see in the back of the overflow help to trap bubbles and act as a mechanical filtration.

Water is then passed from the overflow through bendable or flexable hose.

Water from the hose runs into your sump.

Water fiirst enters the T fitting shown above ^. As water comes out in sprays onto a filter pad on the bottom of a plastic container to catch any remaining waste. The bottom of the plastic bin has holes drilled everywhere on the bottom. This allows water to drip on the bio balls and supporting large colonies of good bacteria. The sump is filled with bio balls or ceramic rings for biological filtration. The bio balls sit on egg crate and then sit on pvc pipe with caps. This creates a space for water. on the other half of the sump is a pump to push the clean filtered and oxygenated water back into your tank.

The white pvc pipe shown is connected to flexable hose coming from the pump in your sump and running back into your tank.

In the top Right corner you can see the white pvc return pipe and its fitted with a directional spray outlet. You can use a spray bar or whatever you like. The return does not need to be above the water or create bubbles to aerate the water. Every drop of water that comes out of the wet/dry is saturated with oxygen from the splashing.

The powerheads in each tank are 550gph. The fluval canisters push 900gph+. The Rena canisters push 350gph.
