nice try...some people cut the fish for show, but actually for what show?

Show of ego, or show of inferiority that he don't have confidence on the fish or maybe his alter ego not to lost. This kind of act is nothing than a mere bad conscious.

some people deliberately know that the fish he put in is not the "real" quality fish, but for the sake of entering (perhaps winning), "salon" the fish and boast to other how good is the fish quality (perhaps for selling later).

you can see from facebook page, some people "salon" their fishes for sale ...and is sooooooo obvious, yet many people "bluntly" praise and bought it.....sigghhh...

it give me a bad taste on competition in particular place for a long run....

Imo, if the trimmed fish can pass through the judges' eye; I have to respect the "trimmer".

As far as I know, able to trim it well, takes a lot of experience to achieve.

Many winning sportsmen consume steroids, and never get caught, too.

Doping is one thing, trimming fishes is another. You can prove that the guy is doped by testing urine samples etc but how do you prove that the fish is cut? Ask the fish? The fact that it is impossible to prove means that it's harder to catch the hairdressers and even easier to mislead newbies.

Getting caught or not, one thing is similar between doping and trimming. They all have lost the respect of all fellow sportsmen and hobbyists and personally, I think respect of your fellow hobbyists is harder to earn than sales and harder to achieve than trophies. Thus, I do not know why you say you will respect a hobbyist that can escape being caught trimming fishes but it goes to show that I and you have a huge gulf in our viewpoints.

Cheers to a world where there will always be differences in opinions.

To me, betta fin trimmers are in the same league as parrot fish tattooists and snakehead spine benders.

Imo, I respect the "hairdresser" ,as styling or trimming is an art to master(regardless is on animal or human).

btw, a good doping program can still prove negative result (base on my personal experience).

As i mentioned again, it is imo=my own opinion, only; i maybe wrong.
