Water chemistry and stocking

Aquarium units convertor
Need to convert inches to cm, or gallons to litres? This convertor probably has the answer you're looking for.

Aquarium volume calculator
Calculate the volume of your aquarium.

Stocking density calculator
Work out how many fish your tank or pond should be able to hold safely using PFK's recommended stocking suggestions.

Water change calculator
This unique program enables you to work out how many water changes you need to make according to the nitrate level of your tank, your tapwater, and the rate at which your nitrate level rises Very clever!

Pearson Square calculator

Pearson Square is a mathematical tool which allows you to calculate what mixture of components you need to reach a desired level. It's particularly useful for accurately determining the correct way to increase or decrease hardness.

Hardness calculator
This calculator converts hardness values into different expressions.

Temperature change calculator NEW
This program is handy for working out how to keep the water temperature stable when making a partial water change using cold water.

Substrate Calculator NEW
Calculates approximately how much substrate you need to buy depending on the dimensions of your tank and the depth you need.

Advanced water chemistry

Carrying capacity calculator
This calculator, which is based upon equations developed by Hirayma, is designed to calculate the carrying capacity of aquaria filtered by undergravel filters.

Ammonia toxicity calculator
Total ammonia nitrogen consists of both toxic unionised ammonia NH3 and relatively non-toxic ionised ammonia NH+4. The quantity of toxic unionised ammonia is related to the pH and temperature. This calculator helps you work out how toxic your ammonia reading really is.

Nitrite toxicity calculator NEW
Calculates the amount of chloride required to reduce blood methaemoglobin levels to a safe level based on nitrite and chloride concentration.

Carbon dioxide calculator NEW
Calculates the amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) in aquarium water based on the results of pH and KH or bicarbonate test results.

Cost calculators

Liquid treatment cost calculator
Enter the details on the product you're using (plant food, additive, calcium supplement etc) and we'll work out how much it costs to use, how much you need to add.

Electrical costs calculator
How much electricity does your tank use, and how much is it costing you?

Calcium cost calculator
Calculate how much it costs you to use a given calcium additive based on the calcium demand of the system and the rate increase each dose produces.

Reeftank calculators

Light intensity calculator
Calculate how much light you're adding to your reef tank by entering the wattage of your lights and the tank dimensions.

SPS systems calcification analysis
Calculate the approximate calcification rate of your reef system based on the use of sodium bicarbonate buffers.

Periodic table of elements
Need to work out some dosages on a reef system that required molecular weights? Check the periodic table!

Salt mix calculator
Tell us how much water you're mixing and what salinity you're aiming for and we'll calculate the amount of salt you need to add.

rH calculator
Oxidation Reduction Potential (ORP) is linked to other water parameters. Enter your details and we'll decipher the results for you and give you an rH value.

Calcium chloride dose calculator
Dosing with anhydrous or dihydrate calcium chloride supplements? We can calculate how much you need to add to achieve the desired increase in your calcium level.
