Default SUMP Tank Design

Guys,

Need your feedback on the sump tank design.

Please see the photo below:

What is the different on this two?

which one is better?

Water from the pipe directly or water going into the tank firat and flow out.

Go for design A , easier to maintain for long run.

My sump is design B.
Dirt accumulate inside first compartment and a waste of space.
Dont understand the rational...

For mine, small or big also flow to the next compartment with cotton wool.
If lots of people recommend design A I still manage to open the glass and combine 1 n2 become 1 big compartment.

Design B should be for K1 media. Not waste of space.

Think this design came out before k1 media.
Anyway I tried putting k1 there previously too. The water just pushes the k1 to the second compartment's dripping plate.

The purpose of design B is for water to overflow "evenly" to the 2nd compartment with the wool. The tank maker wanted to simulate same effect as Internal overflow system (IOS) so all the dirt doesn't "concentrate" on same spot as design A. However, the setback for design B is there is dead spots at the bottom of the first compartment which accumulates the waste over time.

I go for the B design though space is bit wasted. The water flowing to the wool is evenly spread out. Design A, some fine dirt maybe will pass through the wool filter as the water is too strong, imho.
