Thai Black ranchu there also selling at double of the price quoted at other LFS/fish farms.
Woh! More cons!

Squid, for one thing, Ranchus are more elegant, i.e. Japanese ones that is. Get a baby and start small.

Hi, the thai breed actually acquired some traits of the Japanese breed such as, 1. Finer/shinnier back scales compared to Chinese Ranchu which is generallly bigger. 2. Better tail formation. 3. Buffalo head growth

Another advantages of Thai breed will be generally they have better sideview as compared to Japanese breed. As most Singaporean are apartment dwellers who can only keep their ranchu in aquariums instead of ponds or tubs, then this seems to be a huge advantage.

Another factor will be Thai are much cheaper compared to Jap. Grade "AA" Thai Ranchu only cost 10 ~ 20 % of a grade "AA" Japanese Ranchu.

can we say that .... the Japs are more rigourous in culling than the Thais ?

since .. the Thai breeder stock are acutally Jap strains .. they shd have some .. that are exactly the same quality as the Japs ..

You cannot compare top view thai grade with Jap Ranchu. Thai breeders still have not reach the standarded of the jap breeders.
Jap fish is much more better in terms of value.

Ya ! Totally agreed with you.
But to own top grade Jap ranchu is sometimes beyond our league of local hobbists. Got no choice but to stick to Thai which is more affordable.
