Bro...nice fish.
May I know where you get the Torazo bloodline from? They are famous this year with that GC in the District show. |

Torazo is one of the most famous brands in Nishikigoi. As it proudly states on the farms signage, 'Torazo since 1917'! It is now run by Tsuyoshi Kawakami, his wife and one full time employee. At other times of the year he will be assisted in various tasks by others. For example, here you can see Hiroi Seiji's wife helping with culling of Showa kego http://yamakoshi.blogspot.com/2008/06/suck-em-up.html Here Hiroi Seiji is helping Torazo at his jumbo harvest http://yamakoshi.blogspot.com/2008/1...big-girls.html One of the things that rather surprised me early in the year when spawning commenced, and then throughout the year, was how much involvement the breeders wives had on a day to day basis, including manual labour! Torazo is actually the brand name of Urakawa Koi Farm, as mentioned run by Tsuyoshi Kawakami. The farm is situated in Uragara. It doesn't take Albert Einstein to establish the farm name is a combination of it's location and the founders name. The Torazo brand originated from the Sanke line for which the farm was first famous. The striped sumi was liked to that of a tiger, with 'tora' being Japanese for tiger. The farm was started by Tsoyoshi Kawakami's great grandfather. As he started breeding Nishikigoi (they weren't actually known as Nishikigoi when he did) he would keep books of drawings of special Koi and oyagoi. You can see some pics here http://yamakoshi.blogspot.com/2008/0...afternoon.html Mark |

Mark.. sorie for my short remarks....no intention to cause any insult to the breeder. It is a top notch breeder in Japan. The Torazo GC is now in S'pore (that's why i use the word famous this year). There are many GC in Japan, but not many of them, (if not none previously), that we can see it live in S'pore... btw, the other GC kohaku (was it the year before) also arrived in S'pore for the Asia show in early this year. |
