the diy system can last from a week to a month depending on the amount of yeast, sugar, water, bicarbonate & temp you add in. if the recipe is right it could last up to a month.i made one for myself before and it costed me no more than $2.
1)2l bottle - foc 2)airline tubing - foc(i arld have it) 3)valve & connectors -spent 60cents 4)silicon - foc (i already had that too.) and the solution 5)yeast -$1+ @ ntuc 6)sugar - had that at home 7)bicab. - had that lying a home 8)water - 0.0001cents? |

If you're planning to use the Nutrafin canister, then don't worry. There's no way for ants to get to the solution.

hum.. that is cheap. since it a DIY and are we able to control the no. of bubble/sec. and there won't be any pressure, so i assume the Co2 is connect to a power head to defuse it right? |

not possible with flour...
sugar is the easiest.. bi-carbonate is not essential.. a shut-off valve is helpful.. buy the stainless steel ones.. I think it is $1 a piece.. this DIY method is easy, cheap, renewable. pluging the CO2 output into the powerhead is very helpful.. better still .. plug it into a CO2 reactor with your power head.. |
