Default 2014 Altum Season

Hi all,

New season just around the corner. Let's share share any sighting of new imports and also those who bought last year can share share the do and don't for newbies like me to learn

To begin with, I kept last year batch at a low PH of ard 3.2 for at least 5 months before i put them into the main tank. Is low pH the key?

Not sure whether low pH is the key but adding salt does help deal with the deadly bacteria.

No particular brand, just normal rock salt. It seems that the deadly bacteria is less active in saline conditions.

Yes bro, main tank will be ard pH 4 before I move them in. Then slowly I increased the pH to 6.0 after 3 weeks, roughly about 0.6pH increase per week.

I don't recommend to up the pH from 3.x to 6.X in a week. Probably the columnaris might wake up from dormant if no proper treatment before hand. Taking about treatment, what u guys used for the past seasons? I tried oxytetracycline and it works for me. 80% survival rate from size of 10 cents coin.
