basically theres not much of difference in breed between jap ranchus and Thai ranchus...it is just the the Thais has gotten the Jap ranchus bloodline and they have started intensive breedings for them. Therefore..it is a cheaper option for consumers to get good quality ranchus from Thailand.

Thanks Rock.

I think Thai Ranchus look great and don't see any difference.

But how come like got some people prefer Jap Ranchus, i.e., they market it as Ranchus from Jap etc?

would like to know how u guys house them in tubs/basin or in tanks.
and also like a show of hands of the ranchu freaks in Singapore.
thanks!
Saw one type at tropical fish farm, donno its ranchu or gold fish.

The eyes are located on the side of the body protruding out, nothing new. BUT the eye is looking upwards its like looking at an eye from on top.

After a while realised their they cant roll the eye to normal position, gross man. can only see on top of it, worst look damn alien. PUI..........

Donno which idiot cross breed it with what. pui pui pui

hi,

I used to keep jap and thai ranchus, bacically they are different.

Thai have a fatter and rounder body, and in my personal opinion, they are best view from the side.

Jap are longer, side view does not look nice. and Top view is best. their body are longer, and the side of the body is straight, tails are spread out, swim straight. ...... and they have to be kept in tubs, 1 feet deep, and 2x3 feet at least. orelse your expensive fish may grow"out of shape"... of course if you ask the LFS, he will tell you everything is ok.. becos not everyone have space for tub...

there are some pics of my ex-jap ranchus in my gallery
