Default Help with Oscar please!

Need some advice from the bros here.. I recently got an oscar about a week back, he's very active and swimming around now however he refuses to eat anything I give him. I tried pallets, mealworms, superworms, bloodworms, market prawns, mussels, dried shrimp (king long brand).

He would chew the food and then spit it out. The previous owner said he fed the Oscar feeders but I don't want to resort to that, they always bring parasites and fungus to my tank.

Any advice?
Help is greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Most of the time, is quite easy to convert Oscar from feeders to pellets or prawns, they take almost any food, just have to wait until it is too hungry.

Oscar is quite easy to train to eat MP, just strave it for 1 to 2 weeks.

Keep trying, they will eat pellets eventually. Feed few pellets daily....observe whether they eat or not. By nite time, net out those uneaten food or it will turned fungus next day. Keep doing same thing everyday....for weeks if u must.

BTW are there any other fishes in the tank?

ts, how big is your Oscar?

Oscars are also very drama queens hoh

at times, they can even turn moody for days.

allow it to readjust to the new environment too.

in the meantime, maintain good water parameters, the new Oscar will come to terms fast

thanks for all the advice and help! He's around 12 inches still very drama. I tried feeders and he even got picky on the feeders, he would only eat goldfish and spit the rest of the feeders out.

bro, don't worry about the mature Oscar.

it can easily go without food for a week or so

just ensure good water parameters

remove all uneaten food or residues.

it will come around soon.

it is just adjusting itself to the new environment.

Oscar is the most easiest fish to convert the diet. Like fellow bros here suggested, just starving it and it will surely give in to makan whatever you throw in the tank.

Oscars are also known as "river dogs"
