Hmmm... Mindef don’t know the national team needs to be ranked 70+ to be even considered for a work permit. Since his dad is English, register as an English player ensures that he gets to play. That I can understand.
His father not willing to put a dateline to the deferment is not a clever move. It’s a date that they can always request another deferment from. By then, maybe he would have represented Singapore senior team which would be in his favour. Note that playing for Singapore doesn’t mean he has to register as a foreign player in England due to his ancestral roots. |

Sorry.
PHD means medical studies? All along thought is MBBS while a doctorate can be in different field. |

Agreed on abt applying a work permit as a SingGaporean cosust meet the stringent criteria this got ground to explain why jthe son joins the club as an English. Citizen.
But I felt the fault should be on the dad as he did not reply to the query on when will the son come back to serve NS. Hence I agreed with the govt stance |

Maybe cos South African descent not part of EU?
Also I think Fandi’s financials is not as strong as it used to be from failed business ventures. Not to mention what the family had spent on when his wife was sick |

http://www.asiaone.com/News/The%2BNe...06-230861.html Guess since the kids were already talent spotted they had already started making plans earlier... and opt to serve NS first so they can go on to train after that. http://theindependent.sg/football-le...erve-ns-early/ https://www.todayonline.com/singapor...verseas-ng-eng |
