Alternatively u can find eheim surface skimmer at a few places (saw a few at c328) or u can add some surface movement (by eg. airpump) and the layer will not form, although i have come across some layers which persists eventhough there is surface agitation.

if you going seaview. on the left against the wall near the cashier they have a demo plant tank with ultra slim overhanging filter by OF. It comes with a skimmer. Very nice , quiet and pretty effective with adjustable flow. The smallest filter should be less than SGD20 with 15% discount. You buy a skimmer or mini skimmer you would still need to connect to external filter and kind of inconvenient and using on a nano may be overkill and space constraint. they have three sizes

Last time we use paper towel and put it on the surface to float and absorb it. After that it came surface skimmer which was more cleaner and more presentable
