Yes. EGGS. LOADS of them. And the snails and sludge in pipe/cotton was a maggot heaven.

In addition, I had placed a hard cotton filter to absorb the pressure from the return flow which creates a hole in the filter cotton -

One thing led to another... snails and maggots started multiplying like crazy in the system.

Threw the hard one away, now using the trimmings of the cotton filter to stack up to fill similar task.

Now waitin abit before I rid the snails... let the chem get out of the systems first.

I have your problem, place my 2 footer close to the window, the top of my 3 tier is affected only because its home to 2 big eaters.
Question : 1) does or did any other of your tanks got infected?
2) do you still see any signs of those bugs?

Thks

All concentrated INSIDE the cotton filter.

Vermax worked. Thank god.
But took like 3-4 cycles.

Still see is like 1-2... but at least not the picture previously taken!

Tat period was - NO MATTER how I change cotton and WC, it just DUN go away!

With Vermex, I see dead worms. 1 dead worm = 1 less fly to lay Hundreds of eggs.

The equation goes on from there.

They have access to food in your sump thats for sure.
Find a permanent and natural way to stop that.

I may suggest to use a prefilter.
Or you can use a physical barrier like a cloth or netting placed over the sump.

First - u best identify the food source and their fav area.
The filter cotton is like a natural all inclusive habitat.

The area between the cotton is perfect for them to burrow.
for my case, snails, snail eggs their own kind.

U sure ures is same case as mine?

Hydher : these buggers are sooooooo fine - the CAN burrow thru cloth, much less nettings.

Newly hatched ones are finer den hair. and not seen by eyes. I only realised how bad it was when I fill up containers to water plants.. and suddenly I see these small hair like "bodies" as they grow algae at the sides of the container...
