guess i will have to look for a florida gar. alligator gar will grow too fast and likely outgrow my tank.

is it possible to keep a florida gar with the following tankmates?

1 aro
5 tfb
4 kelahs
1 vulture catfish

It is possible, ensure that the size of the other inhabitants are bigger than the size of your florida gar's mouth.

sizing wise i am quite sure they will be fine. just more concern on the feeding.

right now i am feeding aro MP and the mid and bottom dwellers are on pellets. does gar take pellets? i doubt the gar can outswim the tfb to get MP right?

Feed all your other fishes first before feeding the gar. If it gets some pieces meant for the others then good, if not when everyone is full then selectively feed the gar. i.e drop the food near it.

Gars will eat non stop and you will be amazed at their goth rate. You can comm them but you need to have a lot of wc and good filtration to keep them
